Meet Your Teacher
Leslie Hanks
Yoga Teacher · Ayurvedic Practitioner · Founder, Yoga Unlimited
Leslie Hanks has been teaching classical Hatha Yoga in Tallahassee, Florida since 1989 — long before yoga became a household word in the West. Her teaching is rooted in the authentic Indian tradition: the postures, the breath, the philosophy, and the Ayurvedic science of life that gives yoga its full meaning.
Over more than three decades, Leslie has guided hundreds of students — from complete beginners to certified teachers — through the transformative practice of Hatha Yoga. Her approach is warm, precise, and deeply personal. She teaches not just postures, but a way of living: how to breathe, how to eat, how to rest, and how to cultivate the inner stillness that is the true goal of yoga.
Leslie has studied with some of the world's foremost yoga masters, including Aadil Palkhivala, and continues to deepen her own practice and study. She is also a trained Ayurvedic practitioner and integrates nutritional and lifestyle guidance into her teaching.
Outside the studio, Leslie tends her beloved Yoga Garden — a living classroom of Ayurvedic herbs, native plants, and quiet corners for meditation — and hosts seasonal day-long retreats for students who want to go deeper.
The Studio
Yoga Unlimited — A Home for Practice
Yoga Unlimited opened its doors in Tallahassee in 1989 with a single purpose: to make authentic, classical Hatha Yoga available to everyone. The studio has always been a small, intimate space — intentionally so. Leslie believes that real learning happens in an environment where the teacher knows each student by name and can offer the individual attention that genuine progress requires.
Over the years the studio has grown to include group classes for all levels, private instruction, a teacher certification programme, workshops, and seasonal retreats. The Yoga Garden — a lush outdoor sanctuary adjacent to the studio — provides a living extension of the classroom.
High School Scholarship Programmes are available for young students who wish to pursue teacher training. Leslie is committed to keeping yoga accessible to all who are drawn to it, regardless of age or background.
What We Stand For
Classical Roots
Our teaching draws directly from the classical Hatha Yoga tradition — the same lineage passed down through Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, and the living oral tradition of India's great teachers.
Ayurvedic Context
Yoga and Ayurveda are sister sciences. Understanding your constitution, your relationship to food, the seasons, and daily rhythm deepens every aspect of practice — on and off the mat.
All Are Welcome
From complete beginners to experienced practitioners, from teenagers to seniors — Yoga Unlimited has always been a place where anyone willing to show up and breathe is welcome.
Long-Term Wellbeing
We are not interested in yoga as fitness trend. We teach yoga as a complete science of living — one that, practised consistently over years, produces radiant health, mental clarity, and genuine peace.
"Yoga is not about touching your toes. It is about what you learn on the way down."
— Jigar Gor
